The Original $49.95 Plumber has some tricks for you to try if you have clogged kitchen sink.
How to Unclog a Kitchen Sink with Boiling Water
This is one of the easiest tips out there for you to try. Grab a pot, put some water in it, and put on the stove. Get the water to the boiling point. Then pour the whole pot of boiling hot water into an empty sink. You may have to do some work to get your sink empty if it is super clogged. Do not pour the boiling water into the sink if your sink is not empty. After you pour the boiling water into your sink wait and see what happens. If the water just stands in the sink and the clog does not move let the water cool, remove the water, and repeat the process. Sometimes you have to do this a few different times to remove the clog. If boiling water does not work you can try adding some salt to the process. After you empty out your sink pour about ½ cup of table salt down into your drain before pouring in the boiling water. Sometimes adding the salt in helps to clear the drain.
Clogged Kitchen Sink or Garbage Disposal?
Sometimes people think that their sink is clogged when really the garbage disposal is not working. If your disposal is clogged it can stop up the drain too. Try running your garbage disposal and see if it clears the clog.
Vinegar and Baking Soda Drain Cleaner
Vinegar and baking soda can be great tools for all sorts of cleaning projects. First empty your sink. Then pour about a cup of baking soda into the drain followed directly by the same amount of white or apple cider vinegar. The solution will bubble. When the bubbling stops put the stopper in and wait about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes run hot water to see if the clog clears. You may need to repeat this one a few times.
Unclog Drain with Baking Soda & Salt
If the salt and water or the baking soda and vinegar combinations did not work try baking soda and salt. Mix a cup of baking soda with a half a cup of salt and pour it down the drain. Let it sit in your drain for a few hours and then flush it with boiling water. Repeat this proves a few times if the clog does not clear.
How to Unclog a Kitchen Sink with a Plunger
If you have a plunger in your bathroom go and grab it. If you have a double sink you will want to seal off the second side of your sink with a wet cloth or stopper. Take the plunger and create a tight seal around the drain in your sink. You will need to put enough water in the sink to cover the bell of the plunger in order to get a tight seal. Place the plunger over the drain and plunge several times. When you hear the suction clear the clog remove the plunger and flush the drain well with warm water.
